My Background
Hi,
My name is Margie. I received my Diploma back in Nov 1996. I’m a member of the ATMS (Australian Traditional Medicine Society). I hold an Adv Dip. in Remedial Massage, Dip. in Aromatherapy, Cert. in Oncology Massage, Cert in Lymphatic Draining, Cert III in Reflexology, Cert II Reiki practitioner & many other certificates of attainment in courses such as Myofascial Release Therapy, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Cupping, Hot Stone Massage etc. I am currently a recognised provider with all Health Funds for Remedial Massage rebates.
I have been in this industry for quite some time, always learning new techniques & updating skills. I absolutely love working as a Massage Therapist & knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life while receiving my first massage in Dec 1995. Within a week of having that experience I was signed up for the Diploma course for 1996, all lights were green. All my senses knew this was my long-term path & I’m so glad this spoke clearly to me.

Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage works with a goal in mind, addressing specific pain points and will often involve a series of session where your therapist is constantly assessing for change and improvements. An experienced and qualified Remedial Massage Therapist will have a vast toolbox of techniques that can be incorporated into your treatments according to your needs and will modify these techniques based on your feedback. Once the desired level is achieved it is recommended to move to regular maintenance sessions which may include other forms of therapeutic massage.

Remedial + Hot Stone Massage
& Remedial + Myofascial Cupping
HOT STONE: This treatment is a combination of Remedial and Hot Stone Massage together that can be completely relaxing and therapeutic. Great for those requiring a gentler treatment and/or for those seeking deeper pressure to relieve specific pain points.
Hot Stone Massage can be completely relaxing to both mind and body. The penetrating heat from the basalt stones begins almost immediately to soothe and calm the nervous system and melt away the effects of stress from the body. Muscle tension gently eases under the smooth pressure of the stones, allowing circulation to increase.
MYOFASCAIL CUPPING: Is a soft tissue therapy that uses suction to lift and separate soft tissue known as fascia, promoting blood flow and reducing muscle tension & inflammation. The plastic cups are used by typically gliding over the skin, having a vacuum pulling like sensation and cups can be placed over areas of tension such as fascial adhesions and left on for a short period to help reduce or eliminate those concerning tense, tight areas. Myofascial Cupping in conjunction with your Remedial Massage treatments is highly recommended for an additional tool to help further reduce stubborn fascial adhesion.

Reflexology / Foot Massage
The basic principle of reflexology is that congestion/tension in any part of the foot mirrors the congestion/tension in a corresponding body part. These reflex points can also be found on the hands and other body areas, however, the most commonly treated area is the feet. Reflexology may have many beneficial and lasting effects while soothing, calming, balancing and boosting the entire body.
Reflexology may help you feel less stressed, more relaxed and more energized. But the benefits might go surprisingly deeper if you have certain health issues. Some people with medical conditions find that they feel less pain and discomfort if they have less stress, and reflexology may help with that. Helps relieve plantar fasciitis pain, sore, tired and achy feet.
Great for those seeking the benefits of relaxation through 'touch' while being completely clothed.

Relaxation + Remedial Massage
Remedial techniques adapted to the light to medium pressure and gliding strokes that a relaxation massage provides. It helps boost the immune system by stimulating the lymphatics and improving circulation. It is a gentle, flowing treatment that relieves muscular tension and promotes a general sense of calmness and wellbeing. Many people seek relaxation massage after a long week of work or to help unwind, improve their mental & physical health as it allows the body to deeply rest and recharge.
It's a pain free therapy and an effective way to relieve stress and relax the mind, body and soul.

Lymphatic Drainage
I use the Vodder Method. This is a gentle, non-invasive manual technique that has a powerful effect on the body. MLD is a light, skin stretching technique that help promotes the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb. It should not be confused with a traditional massage. MLD is specifically focused on the lymph vessels to encourage the flow of lymphatic fluid. MLD is applied to your unaffected areas first, making it possible for the fluid to move out of the affected and congested areas. MLD therefore, improves sluggish lymph by speeding up the lymph fluid flow through the lymphatics.
Diaphragmatic breathing is also performed to open up the deep lymphatic pathways.

Oncology Massage
Gentle, caring and informed touch. Oncology Massage is a specialised form of massage designed specifically to work safely on cancer patients, during treatment and into cancer survivorship. It focuses on using light touch and gentle movements to promote relaxation, alleviate pain, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, help with constipation. Research shows that Oncology Massage Therapy can help reduce the side effects caused by conventional cancer treatments and help quality of life and wellbeing. The biggest difference between Oncology Massage and Remedial Massage is the therapist has adapted and modified those massage techniques to suit the medical history of a client that has or has had cancer.
Oncology Massage Therapy is also found to be nurturing and beneficial for palliative care.
